Pippa's rather different guide to...

Keeping Cool in Summer!

Hello folks, I'm back again, quite earlier than usual, with some extra special advice for you.
Pay attention...

So, you've been out all day in the blazing sun...
Running up hills...
And jumping around after your ball?
By now, you're probably all hot and bothered, aren't you?
You need to cool down, of course!
Here's how...

Step One: Find yourself a suitable fountain, ideally with water. Green water is also acceptable.

Aha, this one will do!
What d'you think Suzie?
Step Two: (only applies to shelties named Pippa) To everyone's bewilderment, completely forget about your fear of water in a split second.

Step Three: Seize the moment, live life on the edge, and launch yourself into that fountain!

(sadly, no photographs are available to accompany this step, but you get the point, don't you?)

Step Four: Allow your humans to hoist you out of the water, when they think you're drowning.

Step Five: Emerge heroically from the (not so) depths of the fountain, dripping wet but grinning and bearing.

Step Six: Dry off on any available, un-willing humans.

Hooray! Woof!
I hope I've helped all you pups, and that this will be a successful way for everyone to keep cool!

Thanks for visiting,
Pippa :) wuf wuf

P.S. We're quite busy, so I'll catch up on everyones blogs tommorow, I promise!

  1. Write! I'm .my two works never do that. Bet you felt nice and cool.

  2. Pippa - sounds like a sound plan for staying cool. It's mighty hot here so I'll give it a go.

  3. The shake off part is the best....all over the humans. Stay cool Pippa. Have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  4. Nice job!! I especially like how the water can be green!

  5. Excellent advice Pippa. And I think we recognise that fountain. You are super smart to figure out how to keep cool - after all, it's not a skill that we Aberdeen pups need to practice very often is it?
    Toodle pip!

  6. Pippa you DOVE into that FOUNTAIN!! THAT is soooooo.... ummmmm COOL.

  7. oh we are so glad you dived right into that fountain...humans should follow their hearts and do that more often...they could learn much from us four legged creatures!

  8. Pippa, you had those human types fooled regarding water. All along you are a secret Tom Daley. Good advice, thanks a lot.

  9. Dear Pippa, you are right to take a green bath with the heat of the summoe! I do the same every day and many times a day! So I know what you are speaking about and I agree with you!

  10. Howdy Pippa, wowza, great dive. We love the face the water was green. Did it smell really nice?? Did you shake near everybuddy and watch them run and squeal??? Hehehe. Love it. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory
P.S. Mum did mean a cuppa as in tea. She has to have tea in the morning butt then varies it with tea or coffee for the rest of the day. She's coo coo in the head hehe.

    1. Woops, we meant 'fact' not face. Good help is so hard to find, sigh. S & R x

  11. Excellent detail listing of proper cooling after exercise, yep running through the yard sprinkler system does it for ME!

    The Mad Scots

  12. Beat the Heat trumps fear of water. Next time, maybe the humans will join you for a romp in the fountain.

  13. Oh man....we don't have any fountains around us. But sometimes we do that at the duck pond. Great detailed advice.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

  14. Hey it looks like you been hanging around with my twin!!!!

  15. Great advice Pippa! You are very brave to go into the fountain! Lee and Phod

  16. Thanks for the tips, Pippa. I do like using my peep's pant legs for my own private dog towel!

  17. Thank you for your instructional post Pippa. Only the other day Elliot did just this and dived into a rockpool - we don't think he expected it too come up to his neck!

  18. Hari Om
Ah Pippa-dog - you are wise beyond your length!! Can't go getting dehydrated; not in Scotland of all places. Tsk. Great Summer advice - for EVERYone. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  19. You willingly went into water???? Wow.

  20. Oh Pippa you are just too funny!!!!! Love the part about the "green" water too! BOL! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  21. Very good advice Pippa!!! I especially like the tip on dryin' off on the peeps!! Yups, they LOVE that!! BOL
    Ruby ♥

  22. Pippa you are quite right we must remember to stay hydrated in this horribly hot, hazy humid weather here in the Southern US of A.
    Hugs madi your BFFF

  23. What great advice! Rita loves to cool off (but hates to swim) so she would totally go for a dip in that fountain. Or a dirty puddle. Or whatever is handy!

Keep your peeps guessing, Pippa! :)

  24. I do remember moving as a kid and we stayed at a hotel for a couple of weeks until we got a house. We had a blind dog, and I'd taken her out for a walk near the hotel. We passed a stream and my dog jumped in! I got her out, and she jumped back in again! Guess she just needed to cool down.

  25. You must of been super hot Pippa to jump in that wonderful fountain xx00xx

    Mollie and Alfie

  26. Sounds like a plan, Pippa, but Beckett would never do it... well maybe if he was wearing his life jacket.

  27. Now Pippa, I think you are on to something here. Now I just need to find a fountain....

  28. Pippa I think even the fountains are boiling, the temperature here is 101 and not even a breeze in the air. The best place in the world is on the AC vent!
Thanks for stopping by my blog last Week.
    Sweet William The Scot

  29. Oh dear! I hope you didn't give your people a heart attack! BOL! What a clever idea!
